Painting Tahitian Convicts in vivid colour
This is Tahitian Convict #5. She looks better in person, but unfortunately I don't have any glass under which to press her flat for photos, and so decided not to use tripod as the photo wasn't going to be great anyway.
But anyway, here she is, one of a series of new Tahitian Convicts I have been working on. I'm really loving doing these small drawings, as I have a sense that they are all my own, inspired by living here, and by influences from my past...And, more importantly there is a sense of light and fun that is definately something that is part of my life here.
As ever I am still working on how I execute these guys, and plan to have a crack on canvas paper next time and see how one of these darlings translates to a big canvas down the track. For now, they are nameless, but at some point I might start giving them names like...well, this could be Eunice? Or Mercy??
I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. We are shortly, like at the end of this sentence, going to rouse the sleeping toddler from his nap and head off first for a walk and then the beach. It's stinking hot today and I can't WAIT for a swim.
Enjoy your weekend folks. Do something nice.
