Colour explorations

Landscape in Gold

Landscape in Gold

I've been exploring new technique, style and most of all colour this past week. Since I have failed miserably at the painting a day challenge for January, I have tried really hard to paint lots and lots anyway.  To be honest, I made the stupid mistake of forgetting I was on an island and didn't have thirty days worth of canvases/paper prepped, and wouldn't be able to source enough on the island to keep me going..wooops. So, I have painted over some old paintings instead. These two small paintings (90% finished) are the paintings I've been happiest with this week. I'm tempted to order a stack of small canvases like this because it is so rewarding to be able to a painting in a few hours.

In the meantime I have about 8 even smaller canvases to try and rework into small landscapes like these. It's a whole new kettle of fish working at this scale and I am just loving the freedom it is giving me to try a new direction
