Saturday En Plein Air in the Southern Highlands

Saturday En Plein Air in the Southern Highlands is an opportunity to get out there and meet other artists, learn from other artists, paint/draw the local landscape and generally have a nice chilled out morning.

The idea is that whoever turns up turns up. Sometimes there will be a big group, sometimes one person. We may fumble at the start, but hopefully we start to learn from each other and find our groove.

Terms/Conditions:

  • Everyone is responsible for themselves. Don’t come if you aren’t willing to be responsible for yourself. Nobody takes legal responsibility for your bung ankle if you fall…By turning up, that is an acknowledgement that you agree to be responsible for your own health and safety…if you want a formalised group with fees/insurance/instruction, this is not it. This is an informal group.

  • Everybody is encouraged to not litter and to show respect to each other and the environment. Take only sketches, leave only footprints etc.

Outing 1

Time: 10am, 4th Feb

Lets try for 90minutes initially

Location: Lake Alexander. Meet at the shelter behind the playground. There are plenty spots around the lake to draw,so bring a chair i think.

BYO: Snack/Drink/Self/Art Materials (paint/pastels/paper/pencils/jar of water/brushes…whateveryou want) / Chair/ Decent Shoes/Hat

After: Meet at The Boston Ivy cafe in the courtyard out the back for a cuppa or lunch if you wish

Outing 2

Time: 10am, 4th March

Duration: Lets try for 90minutes initially

Location: Mt.Gibraltar, Inner Bowl. Meet at the old shelter. The inner bowl carpark is on your right coming up the hill from Bowral, past the first entrance to the Bowral Lookout. It’s a bit muddy and upsydownsy….room for a few cars. The inner bowl is stunning, but there are no amenities (might have to squat in a bush if you need to wee) and the shelter is a bit how do you do….so bring a chair i think.

After: Meet at The Mill cafe in Bowral for a cuppa/catchup or lunch
