Art Trail and Pop Up Exhibition at Bowral Art Gallery 2022

…..Phew. Art Trail done and dusted for the year, and the coinciding Pop Up exhibition at Bowral Art Gallery is also done and dusted. The timed combination of exhibition and Art Trail this year was somewhat exhausting but still fruitful, as I was able to sell one of my favourite paintings , below, ‘Dancing Along the Borders’ at the exhibition. This was totally unexpected as my work was probably not traditional enough for most of the audience at Bowral Art Gallery . I also sold a stack of work through the art trail, despite the poor advertising and showing this year. The numbers through the door were much less than previous years, and very much local and by accident.

Unless something changes on the advertising front, I’m seriously debating whether to do the Southern Highlands Art Studio Trail again. It’s a lot of work for not much reward. The hundreds of dollars spent could go toward paid advertising direct for me….. It wasn’t helped this year, by the fact that on the second Sunday some not very nice person took down all my signs on the main road - dumped half in the gutter and half on my doorstep. So I had a grand total of 6 visitors that day. Who would do that? And if they felt the need to do it, then feel the need to come and knock on my door and tell me. Asshole act.

What do you think? Have you visited me on the art trail? and would you like to see my studio? Should i continue? I really find it hard as i’m not a salesman. I probably need to drink more alcohol and rent a crowd like other artists do.
