The great art selling experiment
I've never sold any of my work, and only just recently I have started putting it out there, testing the waters. It's a big move, and kind of terrifying for me. I took it a step further this weekend and I took my artwork to a market for the first time this Sunday just past, including some new paintings, like those above, as well as my first other cards. I sold a couple of cards, but no paintings. It was a good learning experience, and I got a lot of positive feedback, but I don't think it was the right place to sell my paintings. I probably need to focus on the tourist market if I want to sell stuff on this island.
Meanwhile I have listed the two paintings on Artfinder, along with about 20 others. I also have had four different card types printed, including the two cards below which will be available through Etsy pretty soon!
know selling art is always going to be a difficult game, but I need to fund my painting somehow...(art materials don't come cheap!) so, I'm getting my art selling experiment on the move, paintings, cards, and photos available in a few different venues and we will just have to see what happens.
For any of you pro's out there, feel free to impart whatever wisdom you have!
