Photo Friday: Studying boats

As I mentioned in my post yesterday, Norfolk Island has gone through some very big days, historical days in fact. These are days that will be milestones in history books for this island.

Whilst I haven't been caught up in the impact and the machinations of the governance announcements, I have been very busy as a visitor to the events of the anniversary of the wrecking of the Sirius. Despite all that was going on yesterday with the Sirius anniversary events, I managed to snap some photos of one of the old lighters down in Kingston.

These boats are quite beautiful, with lovely lines, fine details and a big pregnant belly where they widen out through the middle. The ones scattered around Kingston are  old boats, retired, but still respected. And they have been calling to me to photograph them since I got here. So, yesterday, finally I had a crack.

These are the best shots of a number of studies of these boats. I think I will definately have to head down again, perhaps in the early morning on a clear day, to have another shot at them. But for starters, here they are.
