Discovering a rookery and a treasure trove
I had a rare morning to myself and first went for a walk out through one of the reserves and discovered a white and black Tern rookery. The forest was full of them, roosting in the trees, flying and swooping around me. I tried so hard to catch one of them in flight, it was so amazing. They are such beautiful birds.
A little later I spent a good hour photographing and drawing down at Music Valley, in Jane and Bubby's shed, which is a cultural treasure trove. A life time collection of history and ephemera. Where once I would spend time drooling over the Margaret Olley Studio, now I have the shed to return to and photograph, and sketch.
