Exhilerated and energised: Water and Art

It's been a little quiet around here this week  because I have been out doing exciting things on the water. I've been learning how to paddle an outrigger canoe, both in a single and a 6-man craft as part of a team. I'm pretty energised by it, and stoked at the opportunity for one-on-one coaching sessions, with a really good coach.

I first learnt about outrigging on an aeroplane, somewhere over an ocean somewhere about a decade ago. The lady sitting in the seat next to me was Bahamian, and on her way to an outrigging world championships somewhere. I found the whole concept amazing way back then, and have always thought I'd like to give it a crack. And then, randomly a few weeks ago, I got a call asking if I would like to join a team.

I can't promise I will love it for ever, because I know I am fickle about these things ---the only sports I have stuck with has been rollerblading and skiing...which are kind of about the same thing, a level of speed, fluidity and freedom. 5 training sessions this week should see me pretty beat by the end of the week :)

The feeling of being wet and exhilarated and coming home to a warm shower is a feeling I've felt before. It feels familiar and it feels pretty great. I used to sail as a kid, and there is nothing better than that feeling. It's the same feeling as coming in from a big day skiing into a chalet for a hot shower.

As a result the last few days haven't had as much studio time as usual, so I've just been working on finishing a few pieces... I am considering whether to leave this a black and white drawing, or colour it. What do you think??
