Photo Wednesday

These are the arches of St. Barnabas Church on Norfolk Island.  Remind me to show you photos of the interior some other day. It is truly beautiful. I haven't been in a church for a long long time. I used to sing in the church choir as a child, and have always loved the stilling silence of a beautiful church, and the accoustics when a good choir is singing. I have fond memories of sitting in Magdeburg cathedral in the former east Germany, listening to a Gregorian choir, feeling like my soul had been elevated to a higher plane.

St. Barnabas has that quality, that calming quality that makes you want to sit there and reflect. Whilst not really a religious person, the spiritual aspect and the sanctuary that such a church can provide is something I value.
