This series of bowers follows on from the blue bowers, however is focussed more on the colours of the Southern Tablelands and Southern Highlands, particularly in Autumn and Winter
2018 Bird Bowers in Blue
2016/17 Wild Fibres and Wild Places
During my time on Norfolk Island I was introduced to traditional weaving techniques, and cultural practices. These inspired a series of works that brought together my own family tradition of wreath making, with new skills and ideas about tradition, culture and place.
This series of small works includes ephemeral works, collected, stitched and woven pieces that explored tradition, memory and place.
2017 Wild Blooms Mixed media on Paper
This series of mixed media works was produced in Sydney earlier this year as part of a #100day project. I didn't get through 100 days, but I'm still happy with the series of drawings that came out as a result.
All paintings are Blooms inspired, each a mix of ink, high flow acrylics and acrylic paint, posca acrylic pens and with the occasional chalk pastel detail.
2017 Memories, Stories, Places and Identity
Paintings 2017: Memories, Stories, Places and Identity
This collection of paintings explores memories and experiences of places I have lived and visited. Each place is in the southern hemisphere, is tropical and is touched by colonialism. Each place is rich with diversity, and with beauty both in the cultural and physical landscape.
2015/16 Tahitian Convicts in the Jungle
This series is inspired by the complex history of Norfolk Island, and the beautiful landscape. Norfolk Islanders have a history that includes Bounty Mutineers, Convicts and Tahitian Women. All of these ideas are rolled into one character type in these paintings, somehow paying tribute to all the women of the history of the island.
